Do you eat your lunch in front of the PC, while walking or do you often miss it?
This is fatal if you want to lose weight. How to avoid the most common lunch errors.
At Noon, the stomach growls, but the boss is sitting and working just in front of you. Taking a break and eating lunch in peace that’s the time to not miss. But in order to “work” in the job, your body (and especially your brain) needs to be nourished on a regular basis.
This is also true if you want to lose a few pounds. Lunch is easy to cancel but is not a good idea, because the next food cravings are going to make eat junk foods.
We’ll tell you how to avoid the 8 most common mistakes at lunch and lose weight more easily.
1. You always shift lunch backward.
Only one e-mail to end quickly, and then … Often you remain working and your break often shifts further and further back. But even if your stomach is not growling, you should make no later than 13 to 14 clock noon. The reason:
Who eats very late for lunch, risked suddenly to be attacked by a nasty hunger attack. And what is your favorite food cravings? Sure, the fast food and sugar bombs.
In addition, the body gets a new load of healthy nutrients about every 4 hours, such as high-quality protein and long-chain carbs. Otherwise, your metabolism will switch to slow down and that means it burns fewer calories.
2. You always have lunch in the restaurant.
A sociable lunch with colleagues frees your mind and is comfortable. But who wants to lose weight, it is not always easy in the restaurant: the menus entice with many delicious dishes, which in part contain heaps of (hidden) calories. The portions are usually big. You will eat all anyway, and you have finally paid for it.
Where we would be at a second disadvantage: Every day to eat out at noon is quite a money.
Our tip: Meal Prep! It is healthier and cheaper to cook your own food. Just prepare the double amount of dinner the night before (for example a curry with rice or a pasta dish) and eat the leftovers for lunch the next day. This does not mean tho not eating out, but just not every day.
3. You eat while walking while walking.
You only get a snack in the kiosk or food truck at lunch time and you eat on the way back to the office? Unfortunately, we have bad news for you: according to one study, you are loading up to 30% more calories than if you were sitting down.
Our advice: take a break at lunchtime and take some time to eat. It is not necessary to set an hour.
But 15 minutes are enough for a healthy lunch. And everyone can get real benefit from it.
4. You are eating in front of the computer.
Most people have already tried this weight loss mistake at lunch: eating at your desk. How convenient, because that way you can still check your emails while you put something in the mouth.
The problem: Lunch becomes a minor matter because your attention is somewhere else. This is not only the pleasure of eating but also the ability to listen to your body and to have the feeling of eating well.
Many just keep eating until the plate is empty, even though they may be full for a long time. This is the same effect as when chucking chips in front of the TV.
5. They eat too much salad.
Typical error: No, we’re serious about that.
Here are the facts: Salad has low calories, zero fat, no carbohydrates and is therefore ideal for losing weight. Just stupid, that refers only to the pure, green leaves and raw food, such as cucumber or tomato.
Choose the wrong ingredients, turn a salad that you put together at the salad bar in the canteen, into a real calorie bomb: The biggest weight loss traps are here: Finished dressing with hidden sugar, croutons, and (too much ) Cheese. Also, breaded meat or shrimp have nothing to look for in a healthy salad.
In the future, load more greens and vegetables on the plate, but do without too many unhealthy toppings.
Less is more: A dash of vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper are enough.
6. You eat packaged meals.
The pre-packaged sandwich, the supermarket sushi or the salad in the plastic box almost look like a healthy meal at first glance.
Because you can assume that the ingredients are all marked on the label, while many are hidden and are not included on the label.
Ready-made dressing, topping, cheap fish substitute. That’s neither tasty nor healthy. Oh, and have we mentioned the countless preservatives, stabilizers, and thickeners?
Even if we repeat ourselves, we prefer to people cook instead of resorting to convenience food. With meal-prep dishes, you know exactly what’s in it, and it tastes even better.
It does not have to be the same every day, and it allows you but from time to time one or two restaurants a few times a week.
7. You drink light drinks for dinner.
Those who eat in the restaurant or canteen often have a soft drink. Without sugar, of course, it’s much healthier. Good approach, but it will, unfortunately, make you take belly.
Why? Although Coke Light, Zero & Co. do not contain sugar, the substitute sweeteners they contain are not better. They claim that it is not sweetened by the taste and calories indicated, but in fact, turns into sugar.
The perfect drink for lunch would be a water, spice it up with lemon or cucumber slices.
8. You have the lunch completely canceled.
If you want to lose weight, you should not miss lunch. Lunch canceling will not only make you feel annoyed with hunger in the afternoon, but also with an energy and performance low. And only because you wanted to save a few calories. That `s not worth it!
Your body needs you to provide it with “fuel” on a regular basis so it can easily maintain all of its bodily functions. If there is no supply, your metabolism simply goes down and you burn fewer calories. Speaking of calories: The calorie deficit compensates you at the latest in the evening again. Why? The hunger hole will eventually overwhelm you and end in a feeding bottle. As a result, the calories saved are gone again. So: eat at noon, not to add!
Take at least 15 minutes each day to have lunch in peace. It’s worth it not just if you want to lose weight. A healthy mix of long-chain carbohydrates, healthy fats and plenty of protein provides your body with optimal energy and at the same time makes you full for a long time without breaking your calorie account.
